Two VIA VL811 4-port chipsets drive the hub internally. This is the 2nd generation USB 3.0 chipset from the market leading supplier (VIA). For those curious about internal configuration – Ports 5-7 of the hub are the top-level controller, with the second controller downstream of that providing ports 1-4.
